Puducherry · French Quarter · Category-II Heritage
A nearly 200-year-old heritage building — unhurried, intimate, alive with history.
Our Story
Built in the early 19th century, Gratitude Heritage stands as one of Puducherry's rare surviving Category-II listed buildings — a quiet witness to colonial trade, Tamil culture, and the slow passage of time.
The home has been in the same family for generations. Restored with deep respect for its original lime plaster, timber rafters, and hand-laid terracotta floors, it opens now as an intimate homestay — not a hotel, never a resort. Every room holds a story. Every corridor exhales history.
Puducherry is already unlike anywhere else in India. Gratitude Heritage is unlike anywhere else in Puducherry.
The Heart of the House
Open to the sky, ringed by original hand-carved pillars, the central courtyard is where mornings begin. Breakfast, birdsong, old stone. No agenda required.

Teak rafters, sloped ceilings, and a private terrace above the rooftops of the French Quarter — the most private room in the house.
Curated Experiences
We help you discover Puducherry the way it rewards — slowly, on foot, with nowhere urgent to be.
Signature
Guided morning walks through the French Quarter's 18th and 19th-century streetscapes — past facades, colonial churches, and courtyards that feel frozen in another century.
EnquireThe famous city of dawn, 20 minutes away. Matrimandir, the Visitor Centre, and a silence that recalibrates everything.
South Indian breakfast served in the open courtyard. Idli, sambhar, fresh coconut chutney — and the morning light on 200-year-old walls.
Rent a bicycle and trace the seafront promenade at dawn, before the town wakes and the light turns gold over the Bay of Bengal.
Morning yoga sessions in the open courtyard, guided by a local teacher. Pondicherry has always been a city of seekers.
